Men have become too concerned about political correctness to give a compliment to the opposite sex, according to a survey.
If we look statistically, we find:
1. 89 per cent of women loved to receive a compliment.
2. 67 per cent felt uncomfortable if it came from anybody other than their partner.
3. 65 per cent of women suspect there is nothing innocent behind a flattering remark from a work colleague.
4. While, 12 per cent said no one had paid them a compliment in the past three months.
Christine Webber, a relationship expert, said,
While it may seem somewhat frivolous, a compliment is in fact a vital ingredient for well-being. The trick though is to be able to pay someone a compliment and make them feel good about themselves, rather than coming over as smarmy or, worse, a bit lecherous.
I totally agree with a reader named Mark Mulcahy, who says, it all rather depends on the compliment being given. Women are not objects for admiration. I would much rather be recognized for doing my job well, than be recognized for having nice hair, or complimented on my figure.
Be respectful to each other, naturally, but please don’t put women on a pedestal based upon some male-developed ideals of beauty and femininity. We are worth much more than that.
